The

Collective

Thank you for your interest in publishing an article for the Copenhagen Decolonization Collective!
We kindly ask you to follow these guidelines. If you have any questions and to submit, please reach out to us via email at copenhagendecolonizationcollective@proton.me

Guidelines:
-
Write a minimum of 500 words (for written articles) and a maximum of 2000 words. Your piece can be academic in nature, but should be understandable to non-experts (e.g. explain technical or specialized terms and abbreviations). We strongly welcome more creative or personal pieces, but please cite your sources where appropriate.
-
Include a minimum of 1 image. Add all images both in the text to show the desired formatting and additionally send them as jpeg/png files to our e-mail. It is much preferred if you can use photography or art, and it helps the overall image of the article on the website and social media. Our editing team will be happy to advise and help you pick something that suits the article. However, you may use stock images if absolutely necessary. Please make sure all images are appropriately credited (if not free to use) with the creator’s name or the source - e.g. [Image: source, year].
-
References will be formatted as links. Preferably, you will correctly hyperlink your relevant references where necessary. Alternatively, you could use Vancouver with the in-text citation just after the word you would like the hyperlink attached to (for example “as defined by the UN (1)”; see also recent published articles). When linking to a book use Google Books or similar. You can also add the reference links as in-text comments.
-
Specify whether you would like your name to be linked, and if so, whether to link to your Twitter/X, LinkedIn, or other social media and add a link to your account if so.
-
Write a short blurb (around 2-3 sentences) as a teaser/introduction to your article. A quote from your article is fine! This will show in the main blog page and the social media posts we will share on LinkedIn. We are happy to help with this as well!
-
After you send us your first draft, the editorial team will review it and suggest edits. We will get back to you as soon as possible. After that, you will have a few days to review our suggestions and make changes accordingly, and we will be happy to discuss any of those. We might repeat this process once or twice more, until your article is ready to be published.
-
The editing team is happy to help with any inquiries and can review early drafts if required. Please do keep us up to date on any delays or if you need to extend your deadline; the more notice we have, the easier it is to rearrange the publication schedule.
-
The editing team may refuse the article if they feel like it does not align with our mission.
